Bzflag Causes 100% Cpu usage

Ok :evil: I really liked to play bzflag and it worked really good on my computer. For like 3 months is was fine and then all of a sudden It wont open and brings my cpu usage up to 100 % I really could use some help.

what version of bzflag are you using?
what video card do you have?

I want to run 2.0 and all the new ones... My video card is...a radeon...

make sure you have the current directX from microsoft and the current video drivers for your card from ATI. Then just install 2.0

I did, I Installed the new direct x and upgraded my drivers.
Still wont work.

ok then it may be dying trying to get to the MOTD.

open up your confg, found in your my documents folder, in the folder called my bzflag files. And put the line

Code: Select all

set disableMOTD 1
and then run the game.

open it in notepad or something it's just text

Have your tied completely uninstalling BZ and trying again? What about zapping some spyware?

uninstalling bzflag does not change the config.

more then likely it's dying becaus he's behind some web proxy, and the MOTD is hanging.

then you have the wrong file.

you want somethign that has a path like

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\My Documents\My Bzflag Files\2.0\config.cfg

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My BZFlag Files\2.0 is what trying to do it too, its in Confg

if that file is empty then you have some serious problems.

remove the file, re-run bzflag, and see if it makes a new good one.

ok, i deleted it then it made a new one, it was still empty, i was opening it with notepad, i changed it to wordpad and it just brings up a ton of little boxes.

that can't be the right file..

give me the full name of the file your trying to open with it's path

if that is unreadable, that is your problem. send us your config.
