Just attach your file, or use
Code: Select all
. I think code altimatically only puts so much on the screen, or at least in most forums.
Curl has something to do with internet, I found out w/ my problems. BZFlag would not install with the CVS because it was missing libcurl version 2. I have version 3 installed!
I really dont know what to tell you though. Try giving us some more into. Like error logs or something? It seems that you're browser works well enough to post on the forums.

Wow, that's a wierd one. Seems like aproblem curl: http://curl.haxx.se/mail/archive-2003-10/0084.htmlSomething wrong with CURL; Error: 7
In Windows, maybe reinstalling everything might fix things? Try installing DLL for libcurl as well. I've never run bzfs on windows vefore so maybe somebody else can help you.
PS: From waht I can tell, it is NOT a problem w/ bzfs.exe But, try changing the settings. For startors, make it non-public. just to se if that works. Other thne that, maybe bad router configurations could cause this.
But yeah. try running a private server instead. See if that works.

Ok, i think i have an idea. Since you are using a dell, there probably arent the parts to handle the game. Yes, cant handle the game. I know it sounds stupid, but dell's are the worst computers you could by. More than likely, you dont have neough ram and your video card is incapable of handling the game. The only way to solve this is try and get 256mb ram and atleast a GForce 2 max or something of that magnitude. Dell's are the worst, no one buy them! I hope this helps!

Curl has nothing to do with video or the machine. Dells' run fine And yes integrated graphcis suck, no mater WHO get get the computer from
Curl is the URL library that bzflag uses to get things from URLs ( like HTTP://whatever ) aka the master ban list, the MOTD, and stuff like textures if they are from a URL
gbbiya
That is not a good error, what verison are you using? and where did you get the build from?
on just the server, not having the curl lib work just means you won't get the master ban list. the server will still work just fine. But it shoudl be somethign you will want to look into, as it may be indicitive of other problems with your OS.
moving to help since this is NOT chat.

Ok maybe its not the computer, but he is using a very low-grade system. after talking with him, he told me that he got version 2.0 and got the win.exe. He even has reinstalled the client and still has the problem. Can the problem be fixed in his one of his program files? Corrupt file maybe? This is an awfully strange problem. Hope you have some luck gbbiya.
Dont get mad at him for not posting in chat, he's new to this.

The old stable version of BZFlag was 1.10.8. It is not compatible with the current 2.0.x versions. Please upgrade.
* Windows standard [WWW]bzflag-1.10.8.W32.exe
* Mac OS X [WWW]BZFlag_1.10.8.dmg
* GNU/Linux (i586) [WWW]bzflag-1.10.6.20040515-install.tar.bz2
o [WWW]OBLISK (formerly known as [WWW]SupaRun) package, should install on any major recent Linux distribution. (Requires glibc 2.3)
o Please give feedback to AKAQuinn AT hotmail.com if it doesn't (or does) work. I've gotten a lot of hits from this, but no feedback. Please, please give feedback. Thanks ... please ...
o This package allows users to install without root access, to a user-local directory.
* Debian unstable and testing have native packages. apt-get install bzflag bzflag-server
* Fink unsable contains BZFlag 1.10.6. fink install bzflag
* Gentoo has BZFlag 1.10.8 emerge bzflag
* Sources [WWW]bzflag-1.10.8.20041007.tar.bz2 use rpm -tb <tarball> to build an rpm on rpm platforms.
* Redhat gcc3 [WWW]bzflag-1.10.8.20041005-0.i386.rpm
I do belive that the highlighted green section is a win32.exe provong your point wrong

Ahh I see the confusion, 1.10 is old I was meaning that it is not called JUST W32.exe, that it has the name bzflag. and the version all the time. All EXE files we made were for 32 bit windows.
And yes we droped the sufix W32 from the installers since nothing else uses the .exe extension, and we don't put OSs in the other files. And if we do a W64 build, the same installer will take care of it for us.
There has never been a file that is called Win.exe that came from us. I do belive there have been some branches, or modified versions that were called that tho.
