cant connect to servers in 2.0.2?

Post by AAA »

i cant seem to connect to the list server in linux. I can ping the server, and I've read through NoServersFound, but all bzflag says is 'looking up hostname: Host name lookup failure'.

Help me!

If you're using a router w/ a firewall, or a firewall software package, try it without any port blocking. I'm not sure if our list servers communicate on a port other than 80, so it's just a thought if nothing else works. Of course BZFlag servers use UDP port 5154 by default and +1 to the number for return path (can be manually changed by server owner).

Anyone else know more about our list server's use of port(s)?

FC3 installed the 'old' bzflag version. So I built from source 2.0.2 (without removing the old RPM. Silly thing to do)
First I built from source. Than I installed a RPM. (Another silly thing to do)

I will try to remove all the biniaries and traces of BZFlag from the system and install from an RPM.

OK, i got it working. I still had abBZFlag biniary in /usr/local/bin that was being used (the one with the bug.)

I installed a 2.0.2 RPM after that.

Mabye a bug report should be filed?

anyways, thanks.
