Does c:\bzfs.conf exist? Check the easy stuff first.

BZAdmin is a text-based client for bzflag. Basically you can join a server and watch the same events you'd see in bzflag's chat box.

when I attempt to run with that config file I get:

Code: Select all

F:\Programs\bzflag>bzfs -conf f:\x.conf
bad argument "Lauphs"
and then the usage statement. You need quotes around your /me comment.

However, that won't fix your problem ;)

The error message you're getting is triggered by an unexpected EOF before any commands. Basically that means you might have one of the following problems:

* The file does not exist, or is not named what you think it is (e.g. it's named "bzfs.conf.txt" and you have not turned off windows' idiotic "hide file extensions" 'feature').
* The file does exist but the user that bzfs is running as doesn't have permission to read it. This should not be your problem if you create the conf and run bzfs as the same user.
* The file is empty. Since you pasted the contents I'm assuming that's not the case. ;)
* The file has an EOF character (ASCII 26) before the first readable statement. This is frequently the case if it's saved in a non-plain-text format (e.g. if you saved it as a wordpad document instead of a plain text file).

Open it with Microsoft Notepad. Save it as "Text only"

To get rid of "bzfs.conf.someidiotictxtfileextionsionbecausemicrosofthidestheextinsion"

enclose it in quotes, like

"bzfs.conf"

Try running it with -dddd not just -d. It should now print out Loads of junk, but somewhere in there will be an error.

Thanks for telling me this CanonBall, but the problem is that i can't see the file,

However i fidled around with it, and found out the problem

the error that i found was that i miss typed the location of the file,

on windows xp it doesn't show the extension at the end, unless if it knows what it is, in this case it did as an .conf

EXAMP: copied the BZFS.conf to a diffrent place, and saved as bzfs.conf, and that was my mistake, if i told it to look in c:\bzfs.conf.conf it would work

However i have some errors on the .conf file

it says : eror: bad argument "3"....

And i can't figure it out

and i changed my file around to see what happens and it still has the same error

Code: Select all

-q

To show file extensions, go to tools>folder options

TO add or remove a flag use

+f st
-f sw

not just -sw or +st

-sw 1
Bad flags are automatically dropped after this many wins.

and -st 3

Bad flags are automatically dropped after this many seconds.

Your password line is blank...so it reads -password -st, then 3 as the next argument. If I copy your conf just as you have it, and remove the password line, it runs with no errors.

fsockopen means you have to many ports open on your router, for instance if you have 5 different computers on your home network and they all have the same port open then you will get this error, at least that is what happened to me, to solve it i went into my router and removed all the ports i opened for bzfs, then i open only two ports for my hosting computer, one on tcp and one udp and it worked fine so i suggest doing that
