Error connecting to server

Post by M1A2AbramsTank »

I can't seem to log on to server on my laptop. I am connected to the internet because I do get a server list, I just can't get on servers. Is there any way to fix this?

Delete your config.cfg file. It is most likely corrupted. It is in your "My Document\My BZFlag FIles\2.0" directory. It will be recreated when you restart your client. You will have to set your gui and display settings again, but you should be able to connect to servers then.

check your windows firewall as well. cant think of the main ports to open, but when i used win xp sp2, i had issues with windows firewall getting in the way of things, everythign really. bz would load, get a list server, but wouldnt connect.

recommendation, since your wireless and chances are good you have some firewall protection from the router, disable it completely. if you dont want to do that, just allow whatever ports necessary for bz to function (i dont use xp anymore so i cant do much to help you with that).

it seems to be a problem only few people experience with the windows firewall, not many leave it enabled, so they short circuit the issue. others just leave it on and never seem to have an issue with it at all... dunno, tis why i dropped xp
