To use the latest verson of bzflag i need the latest version of libpng that Ubuntu does not provide in its repository...is there anyone who knows where i can find a suitable version of libpng?

I need a libpng deb package
while compiling i get an error..i miss the zlib package.
I download zlib and i put the dir containg the files required in the same directory...but libpng continue to want zlib even if it is in the right(?) place.
Which is the correct dir tree for zlib and libpng?
I think i'll wait the package .deb provide by packages.debian.org:D
