A question about sound formats

Post by The Vaxorcist »

I'm playing around in the data dir, trying to slip in my own sound effect. Unfortunately, BZFlag (2.1.1, btw) doesn't seem to like the encoding. According to file, my sound effect is RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 22050 Hz. One of the sounds that comes with bzflag is RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 22050 Hz. There the same, Right?

Anyway, could someone help me troubleshoot this?

Thanks

The current BZFlag audio code is rather picky. Try making your file Stereo.

Tried that already - doesn't work.

You're right, it's very picky. I just read recently that bzflag will accept both stereo or mono. So it's not that.

BTW, I converted it with sox - if that has anything to do with it.

*Sigh*

Now it works. Hmm, I converted it with a different set of tools this time. Oh well.
