sorry if posted in the wrong area.

i am curious about bz tank behavior on the field.
two tanks can pass through each other, that is, drive right through one another. would it be difficult to make tanks "bump" off each other?

as an example, pyramids that you can NOT drive through. when you hit them with your tank you can bounce off. so if tanks could "bump" each other....
is this something anyone has done with the code before?

just curious is all....

And probably you cant kill anymore two tanks with one shot but just the first.

it has been talked about.

present tank colisions only hapen at the base of the tank so that would have to be changed. it is posible. tho it may allow people to get "stuck" more easaly ( like in a corner behind a NR guy ).

if you want get CVS and code it on up :)

Without thinking too much about it, I would assume that this could lead to strange effects with lag because both players have a different view of the world. But maybe it would work ok with acceptable lag.

However I actually like the ability to drive through other tanks, changing this would mean a chaneg to the gameplay. Might be ok as an option though.

exactly what i was thinking chestal. maybe a new gamestyle called "bumper tanks" that are like bumper cars. and this thought occured to me while playing on ducati CTF, when in close combat with another tank. when in these situations, like yourself, i often drive through the other tank to and try to shoot them after creating some confusion.

so i thought it might be kind of fun if people actually collided and bumped off each other. i figured it would be a major hastle for the overall game code but might be used as a server option such as "-tb" or something for "tankbouncing".

i also knew i would see "patches welcome" from someone :)
...proton, man i wish i had the brains to code! when i figure out what my brains are good for i'll let you know ;)

It'd be even more fun if you could actually cause a tank to bounce. Not literally bounce.. like a rubber ball... but horizontally. That would be a really fun/challenging way to get campers off of high platforms. ;)

it makes for some fun possibilites doesn't it spiff :)

i can imagine a game with no shots, but pitfalls or tank traps that you could bump someone into...bumpertanks!!
