What a Robot!

Post by alfa1 »

On a normal humans + robots match this situation caught my attention... and I, even, for a tiny moment, reached to think that somebody could have been driving (faking) the robot!:

8 kills in a row made by the robot. Main factors that could have helped: a) its position somewhat near/near the base; b) me helping him while I was grabbing the purple flag; c) the position of the blue flag; d) the position of the purple flag after the capture.

I grabbed the blue flag.

Before the capture: 6 kills in a row in 1 minute approximatedly. 1 every 10 seconds approx., on average.

The robot had grabbed the purple flag some seconds ago and kept killing! At this point, analizing it coolly, I should have dropped the blue flag there and have helped it to capture. I guess I was surprised by its behaviour and wanted it to continue alone.

I dropped the blue flag. The robot is surrounded by 3 robot opponents.

The robot just died (some pieces on the air)... but we can see it fighted until the end due to that blue bullet!

After the capture: 7 kills in a row in 1 minute approx. 1 every 8 seconds approx., on average.

45 kills on 15 minutes. 1 kill every 20 seconds, on average.

13 kills in a row in total in about 2 minutes and I was not killing anything there (tho helping)! A new proof that they are not only a good company for a fun match but, also, that, with human mates understanding and helping them, they can do big things!

Note #1: normal resolution images at the next posts.

Note #2: these robots are the ones coming with BZFlag (with some tiny modification) but, plus, there is a paralel system made by me to make them become fun and challenging. More info at Levels and Robots (Simplified Version) .

Note #3: I think I will start recording all the matches to be able to save special situations like this.

That's pretty interesting that one of your bots could be the MVP for the match and perform so well! A lot of times I think people see bots and just assume they aren't really as much of a challenge. But I don't mind a few bots, and I can definitely see how bots could perform better with more human teammates helping them out.
