I probably would have done a picture too, but that would have required cleaning up my desk area, and by the time that happened April 1st would be long gone :)

now that's comedy, thanks for the laugh.
It's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says: Hey, can you give me a hand? You can say: Sorry, got these sacks.

It would take a lot of work to get the games to run native on any console. The patforms that support linux would run now.

If you could get build tools and what not on it, I don't see why the linux xbox or ps2 versions wouldn't work, sure.

Just compile it for your platform (I imagine that the mesa libs and other necessary garbage may pose a problem)

But, I'm no dev :)

I'm not sure they've got accelerated OpenGL under either of the linux projects. It'd be pretty painful trying to play using software rendering on those CPUs

Considering the PC architecture of the Xbox, I would imagine it to be the easiest platform to work from. Especially with all the work that has been put into running Linux on the XBox

Doesn't NVIDIA's closed-source driver work on Xbox Linux?

no it does not, the x-box is not the same as a PC, it just shares some common hardware.

the x-box dose not have a normal AGP bus like PCs do, system ram, and video ram are the same. And not like what we are used to seeing on crapy mobobs or when AGP mem kicks in, where video uses system ram. This is more like the system uses video ram. It's all on a very fast custom bus. so the driver is difrent, tho may of the opcodes to the chip are the same.

The linux people are working on it. Software isn't that bad since 1) it only runs at 640, and 2) it still has that fast ram to video bus for software blits so they are faster in software then they would be on a PC in software. I have seen screenshots of tuxracer on an x-box.

They are still working on it, by posibly reverse eng. the existing nvidia driver as it must have some similaritys.
