Old Variable?

I was looking in the Map Releases section, and downloaded an OLD map, on the last page, and it had a variable _deadUnder. I tried to run the map to see what it looked like, and the _deadUnder didn't let it load. Was this an old variable now removed?
It also seems like all the old maps used .map instead of .bzw Why was there a change?

PS the map was here ---------> http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=1942

Could've used a plugin to create that variable.

Last time I checked variables weren't just removed. This may be a special case however.

Looks like that was just a mistake on the map author's part. It should be a waterLevel object as there was never a "_deadUnder" (or at least, not in a released copy of the game - possible that was in a 1.11.x build at one point, but I don't recall it).

Search for 'deadunder' on this log for the discussion: http://purl.rikers.org/%23bzflag/20041030.html.gz

00:22.59 lan56 btw, what is the BZDB var for the water level? there is none that has an obvious name, no "_waterLevel" or _deadUnder, so I already checked
00:25.07 learner lan56, i thought it was deadUnder
