1.11.x has meshes, tetrahedrons, arcs, cones, and spheres.
They are relatively well documented in the CVS bzfs.6 man
page. Note that if you try to save a world with arcs, cones, or
spheres in it, they will be saved as meshes. Those objects
are going to be moved client side to save on bandwidth, I just
haven't finished that part yet. I was going to phase
tetrahedrons out entirely, but instead all just use meshes to
represent them.

I suppose that you realize that my next question is: what about a compiled version for those of us with Windoze and no compilers? :)

Guess I can scrap that tetra F-14 I was building and start on a mesh version. I wasn't happy with the way it was turning out anyway.

I am available for testing mostly from monday to friday between 12am and 4pm GMT+1; I tend to prefer rabbit or freestyle maps; a friend of mine is likely to join us provided maps aren't too complicated (most of the time he plays on a non-accelerated, slow PC)

Uhhh... so *when* is this mass game supposed to be? There are like three, maybe four people total on tonight. What happened to devs and server owners being present?

there were a few people poping in and out..but less than I hoped for. At least people are aware of the development version and hopefully will use it more often.

there wans't much of a mass game as far as i saw... although i did get the opportunity to whoop bryjen and bzg around for awhile.

all in all the new version is looking pretty good. binoculars apparently aren't mapped by default. there was also a problem with OO and the hemispheres on some of the test maps. basically if you drove into one and held onto OO you were "sealed", however you could jump into one and drop OO in mid-air and be allowed to shoot out of the hemisphere, move around like normal and jump, although you couldn't get back out.

also, the wing flag shouldn't be allowed infinite jumps during a rabbit hunt match. otherwise the rabbit could just fly away and never be killed.

some of the new bad flags are kinda cool, but im worried that there is going to be way to many bad flags compared to the number of good flags on the average server with all the options that are availible.

I was planning to be there last night bzg... But there was a change of plans with the powers that be. I'm open for tonight or tomorrow night if you want a quick follow-up. :D

sorry about that. I meant to be, and the schedule was clear... but then it was changed. Sorry about that.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!

rr, thanks for being around to test the stuff.
The physics part of the new mesh structures
has not been completed, so it is expected that
you'll stick to the sides of meshes, and that
if you are inside a mesh without touching a wall,
you will not be sealed (so you can get trapped).

With respect to your comment about infinite
jumps on a rabbit more world, you have to
realize that those worlds are Test worlds, they
are not intended for general playability. Or if by
your comment you meant that the game should
implement a fixed limit on wings jumps based on
the game mode, then I disagree. I'd leave that
sort of thing to the server owners.

I just had an idea. Most of the 1.11 servers are purely test maps, with the exception of Decks and one or two others, and I don't find those that interesting. I'd like to see a good medium-sized CTF map put into play, like the Viper's Two Castles, or the gamesunited one. Then when people get together it will hopefully be an actual intense CTF game rather than scattered FFA fighting on a relatively uninteresting map.

Actually, it's not that CTF has any significant playability advantage, I'd just really like to see the Wings flag implemented on Two Castles. :D

Well, I'm back home and trying to get the 1.11.15 build running. Windows version posted by PL. The fonts on the menu screens are unusable. Just a bunch of vertical lines. I've tried switching resolutions in the config file, and it's obvious that the resolution changed, but still unreadable text. The only thing that is legible is "BZ FLag" which I suspect is a graphic.

Not sure what in the config file should be adjusted. I've been using build 10, and it was working fine.

Ideas?

Everything is fine with the PL build on a WinXP Pro, SP1 system. Except that no servers are found ...

That's an issue that's being worked out still. If you can't find any servers, move your existing BZFlag config files out of the way temporarily and you should find the servers. If you don't know where your BZFlag config file is, it depends on your system -- check out other threads on finding or editing your config.

Cheers!

Learner: tried that, didn't work.
OTOH, I'm noticing no servers found in 1.10 too now. If I know the server name, it goes in correctly, but lists no servers ...

Ahh, yes. Minor detail -- the list server apparently went down just a couple hours ago. ;)

It should be back up soon.

trepan -

I didn't realize until later that the number of jumps with the wings flag is server configurable. That is fine by me. Consider the infinite jump on rabbit mode comment to be for the server owners and not for the developers.

For the most part it is looking good. Keep up the good work.

Is there some more recent public version? When I try using .16 it finds no servers and if I try to connect to the last server I used for 1.11.16, it complains incompatible version (BZFS0006). BTW, this 1.11.16 build reports on GUI as 1.11.15 and uses the 0005 server version ... do I need to re-downloadit?

Wish I could help you. I can't get my system to work with the new version at all. Here's what I see when I run it (version 1.11.16, latest possible build). And this is after loading all new drivers for everything in my system :(

Duh. I have better luck :)

Try moving your My BZFlag Files folder to a My old BZFlag Files folder, so that on launch bzflag doesn't find any old config file. This might reset it.

Also, what video card and driver version do you have?
