I am new and I KEEP GETTING KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Cyberdecoder »

First of all, I must say that BZFlag is an awesome game, it is one of the best games I have ever played. But I keep getting shot in the game and my score quickly goes down to the -30s. Most of the times I don't even realize I was shot until the big glass crack shows on the screen. The only time that I kill tanks is when my bullets get reflected on the wall or the pyramid and another poor tank get in the way :lol-old: , but that only happens about once every 30 minutes :? . Do you guys have any tactics, tricks, suggestions that can help me get started? Thx alot.

keep playing it takes a month or so to get to 0 sometimes
then after that you'll go positive...

playing rouge is a little easier cuase you dont have to worry
about killing teammates....

playing a team is a little easier cause you have folks on your side...

50/50... great choices aye? :)

Try here:

Look at the "Guides" on the right side.

I think play teams is a little easierfor me, and I don't have to worry about killing teammates at all since I can't even shoot a tank (my bullets are always half a screen away from my target). Thanks for the advise.

The best help comes from the players themselves. Get onto a map in observer mode and watch the best player and see what he does...I learned a lot by watching how others play.

The guides helped me alot. I used their strategies and notice that my kills of newbies have increased. However, they probably won't give you much of an edge over expert players. Been playing this game for a half of a year, and rarely am I in first. But hey, sometimes I do get in first!

As stated above, the best help is just practice and observing people. Use your tank window as well as the radar for appropriate situations, for example, use your radar to see tanks behind you. It takes practice, but after a while I eventually became a positive-scoring player.

BTW, your English is perfect. I haven't noticed grammar or spelling errors, other than average typing mistakes that even native speakers make.

I would recommend playing on "ducati" servers, that don't allow jumping and have a low shot limit. This forces you to learn to dodge bullets and go on a frontal assault. I learned how to fight on Hepcat's pillbox server.

I learned how to fight by getting battered on Secretplace all day long, and eventually it battle hardened me for the worst of fighting conditions.

before observer mode I would steal strategies from really good players, such as C++. Once you play long enough jumping and shooting will be motor memory and very easy.

1 Learn to use your radar. That is the single most powerful tool you have. Learn to shoot, steer jump and dodge by it.

2nd. Head to ducati and other low-shots, and no-jumping servers. Once you get good there, you can head to other places like secret place and still play good.

Those are the 2 best thing you can do to improve your gameplay.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!
