Thank You, server owners
Thank You, server owners
I just wanted to thank all the server owners out there for hosting and giving us a free place to play a game that we all love. I know that some, if not all, of the popular server owners (hepcat,secretplace...) pay hundreds of dollars in internet charges to bring us the servers...so Thank You.

Yeah, thanks
Without BZFlag, I'd have to pay for some obnoxious, lower-quality, less-addictive game.
My checks would begin to bounce.
I'd get arrested.
I'd go to jail.
My kids would grow up without a father.
They'd turn into delinquents, and work their way to full-blown sociopaths.
Eventually, one of them would build a portable nuclear device and blow up Washington DC.
On second thought ...

I guess I'm in both categories. Thanks to all and you're welcome for what I've given back!

One way to really thank them would be to help them out with the costs of running a server.
I know Nidhoggr, who runs secretplace, the list server, and these forums, appreciates any donations anyone is kind enough to make ( paypal frcameron@sacredcup.org ). The list server and these forums are probably the most costly public services that are run by the project directly. Other servers may also appreciate a little help.
T-Shirt sales also go to help out paying the DNS and other costs.

Thanks to all server owners past and present. A special thanks to Cosmos for his fine hepcat server. I am very saddened to hear that this server will no longer be. It was the best server bar none in my year of playing bzflag. Hopefully you'll come back from retirement. Good luck.
Please allow me a shameless plug. I have been inspired by Hepcat to get into the dirty business of hosting a bzflag game server. You can reach it at pythonian.com:5154. The bandwidth is extremely expensive (for me at least) but I am willing to keep it up as long as possible.
My favorite style of game has always been 2 team flag capture, so these are the type of maps that will be run on the Pythonian servers (Jumping or Ducati/Flags or no Flags). However, if you come up with something unique, I'll consider hosting it.
As anyone else who is a server owner, I am happy to take donations but I won't post any further information on that. If you are interested in knowing more about the server or anything else, you can navigate to http://bzflag.pythonian.com.
