BZ AWARDS

Post by Mrhankeythechristmaspoo »

What if at the end of every year there were awards given like.....
1. Player of the Year
2. Best New Map
3.Overall Best Server
4. Team of the Year
5. 1v1 Champ

Those would be questions and thers a giant poll
Also what if good players and winners of Awards go into a BZflag Hall of Fame

Whadua think?

stats wouldnt be the best way to do it. you could have a server with large sw, lots bots, and boom! instant high score...but good idea, the team of year, not so good, there are many different leagues, and its hard to compare between leagues.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

all of thats true except for leagues, every league leader has won a lot of matches, but in the GU league TIB has played like 60 matches and only lost 4, so it would be an obvious winner every year, soo...

Polls could be run to decide or at least help decide on some of these categories.

Or we could just have a poll on the forums.

The first would be very hard to judge. You'd have to have a broad range of judges, who have played and become proficient at all the playing styles, servers, and communities. It would be hard to find a medium that would please everyone. So i say strike that idea. You are judging something that is intangible, and does not contain any universal judging standards. There fore you will have conflicting ideals on who's "best" and who's not.

the other 3 are feasible as they are concrete and one can easily create a standard.

That's what I meant

In response to your post, Red Baron, I do agree that it is a very hard thing to judge. However, we could do it like sports decide on the MVP. Gather a wide range of experts on bzflag and have them vote. If the people voting vary in which server they play at or which style they like, no specific "tangible" thing like score would be overrepresented and the "intagibles" could be counted in.

Just a thought.

^Yeah, and doesn't necessarily have to be about how good the player is. Hm...how about even splitting up the MVP into multiple categories: Most Skilled, Funniest, Best Sport, Most Popular, Worst Player, etc. Maybe even Player we're most glad is on the Global-Ban list. :lol-old:

That was the whole point of my post. that it would be very difficult, due to the variety of playing styles, and getting judges to agree, and picking judges. it sounds rather improbable.

But.. One problem
Those judges I named for 2 shot no jumping r really respected (i think) but there also very good players that could have a shot at MVP award. Therfor by picking respectful (good) players that takes there fairly good shot at winning MVP away.
What to do?

this is what I"m talking about. That is a very limited range for 2 shot no jumping. I know those 3 players personally. Blue eyes is a good candidate for a judge. The other 2 aren't. Put snow monkey as a judge for Hunt-the-rabbit. He's badass when it comes to that. He was very good, and still good at 2 shot no jumping. But he doesn't play it as much.
