Teamspeak

Post by carerra »

Ok. So it has been brought up here once or twice and it is going through the GU league forum and Im not sure about anywhere else, but Teamspeak is a new useful tool to come into the bzflag world.

http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php is where you can find the Teamspeak client according to your OS. I would like to get alot of the BZflagers to use it. We could start a channel for the frequent users or make a "help" channel for bzflag users because I, myself, had alot of trouble figuring alot of things out. It may seem silly to use a help channel because its a speaking program, but you can also send messages.

Ok well there are all of these ideas and such, but if you need with it or have a suggestion leave it here, or drop by in Teamspeak and one of the frequent users, I or one of the about 7 others, can help you. One last thing is that Mac users may want to know alittle about the mic that is built into their computer or know how to use a hands-free headset, because there seems to be alot of trouble in that region.

Anyone want help with TeamSpeex, I might be your man.
There is no hands-free option. The only way to get around holding down a button, is to set the "Push-to-talk" key to Caps-Lock. ;)

Yes you do. Teamspeak is a program where you can freely talk to and hear others. Its basically like a walkie talkie for the computer with the option, hold down a button, or voice activation where all you do is speak and automatically records and sends what you say through the network to all the listeners on the channel. And there is an option where you can set the sensitivity of the voice activation. You can also adjust the ouput level of the other persons speech. The only downside though is that with these two options, if someone has the mic level low, and you turn up your input level to hear them better, and then someone else has their ouput level up higher than the other person, you get a very high frequency. It can be irritating.

If you have any trouble understanding this, I will try and simplify it greater.

...Team Speak 2 has a voice activation feature = hands free (as mentioned by bzflaginator)

Works great, very clear.

I've thought about posting something here about it but never thought if it would be accepted by the community.

Teamspeak (TS) is a very nice program. Lots of features. To check out my server (not advertising it as I haven't found a new use for it) at 68.16.109.66. Although wrongly set up voice activation is really annoying.

ok the main channel is what you automatically go to. when you start teamspeak...go to connect..then go to "quick connect" then put in "teamspeak.gamesunited.de" because I dont think there are any other bzflag servers yet for teamspeak. You will automatically go to the main channel.

the gu channel is set up for Gu league players, not the bzflag community world wide! Ask cbg about respecting certain teamspeak channels

People host their own teamspeak for certian users and purposes. Don't mis-use the gu server.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!

Argh, what does that mean? :(

Perhaps it means, that dont give out TS server details out willy-nilly (unless the details were public anyway, ie, they are posted quite clearly on a website or whatever)...?

I can run a TS server for bzflag. I've got a tiny little error, but it still works.

Ok. I think that someone should create a "help" server of just a general "bzflag" server and we can run root channels off that. I would do so if I had something to host it with :? .
