Idea for Play Style (I guess that's what you call it)
Idea for Play Style (I guess that's what you call it)
Okay, new idea that's kinda similar to the anti-camp SWs.
This time, when someone captures a team's flag, instead of several SWs over that team's base, a giant atomic SW (those are those massive map-fillling ones) goes off in the center of the map, wiping out all who are spawned. Of course, this will make all who got hit lose a point. It will also be set to go before anyone on the respawned team can, well, respawn.
This will create a little stategy as to what's more important: personal score or team score? it could encourage or discourage teamwork.

A plugin could be written to make the server kill all players on a flag capture... this could also work as to not make everyone lose a point.
I've thought of it before, it would make a CTF game sort of like a scramble, in rounds, instead of continuous play. It would be fun to try at least.

Optimism is just a milder alternative to denial.

Not really. YOu just start a new round. Like fencing. Wold probably go well with the race to seven plug-in.Ice Wewe wrote:Doesn't that sorta suck for the capturing team? Just a thought. The team that caps, should get the reward of living, otherwise, no one will want to cap.

It is not the fall that kills you. It's the sudden stop at the end.
Always remember you are unique. Just like everybody else.

The thing that may bother people if they all die in a flag capture is that
everybody will lose their flag. The player who had gm,laz,sw ot geno will be
angry of this.
There is an other problem...
Even if you should not play only for your score, some player do. So making
the game only for the flag capture will not interest everybody...

I like the idea!
If the intent of the CTF server is to CTF, then each round should be independant of each other, similar to sports. Each team starts fresh with equal opportunity to establish a position on the field and/or obtain a super flag, which are also reset at each CTF.
I'm sure many players may not prefer this approach but, hey, there are many servers to choose from (thanks again to the server owners and sponsers)

Perception is everything!
like i said before in a another topic, i like this idea too but not after every cap, but after 5 or more caps.torture2m wrote:If the intent of the CTF server is to CTF, then each round should be independant of each other, similar to sports. (i also suggested that all the scores would be reset but that wasn't possible)
1) That would help eliminate camping, I guess. PLus it gives a bit more "rush".Night Crawler wrote:The thing that may bother people if they all die in a flag capture is that

2) But there is a score! See that thing in the scores on the very far right in a CTF game? That's the team scores. A capture might harm your teams personal scores, but it would be more of a temawork thing. You wouldn't care about your own score, just trying your hardest for your team to capture that flag so your team scores a team point.

It could be sort of like football. Instead of individual scores for CTF, there would be the team score. When you do away with the individual score, everyone on the team will (or should, anyway) focus on being part of the team to score as a team. So, after a CTF, everyone blows up and starts over again.
I think games like football would be very funny to watch if each player tried to score in some way on his own in addtion to (or even instead of) scoring with the team.

Speaking of football (American), imagine if it were possible to pass a flag to a teammate and not just the center. Also, imagine being able to intercept a passed flag
On that note, you could also have a two-team style of CTF. Instead of capturing the other team's flag, you try to score by capturing the one flag in the middle (like football, score with one ball rather than trying to steal the other team's ball).
Just a thought

Perhaps, but what would the limit for passing be? Meters? Feet? Inches? Centimeters? Anyway, after you decide what the distance is, how do you pick what teammate you want to pass it too? I don't think that's the best idea, but don't stop thinking!

The team score would be more interesting with the race-to-seven plugin.dartman wrote:1) That would help eliminate camping, I guess. PLus it gives a bit more "rush".Night Crawler wrote:The thing that may bother people if they all die in a flag capture is that
