OMA!

Congrats on the Wedding!

(and yeah I was that silly little steath tank behind ya!)

Tell Frank I said hello, and ask Frank when Project 2501 is gonna be done? :lol-old:

Hell Ya, it will be ready when it is ready... :)

Good to see some of the old folks are still active!

P2501 is ready at least it runs stable (for me) since 2003. Still missing is a quite bunch of stuff - a decent menu, server announcement, better models and textures (remember - P2501 did use Milkshape 3D models, it still does), a code review or two to get rid of some funky code constructs. But it works so far.

Why did I never released it? Well, first the lack of time in 2003/2004 due to my real work. I also proved myself that it really could be done, after all every major milestone like arbitary models, threaded networking and scriptable robots were working. The presentation is still lacking and I could not found anyone doing some decent art work or models.

Also I felt a bit out of touch with BZFlag (never could stand the new flags and features like auto-dropping of flags - I like it simple and smooth), then over the months P2501 was lost in time. Still I have the complete built on my compile system - you don't throw away something you put several months of work into.

Greets

BZFrank

1. Who the **** is Oma?
2. Is he really THAT good that people are nostalgic about him?
3.a The learning curve is short for only those with natural skill.
3.b The learning curve is shortening because as a community grows, new talent will come with some of the new people.
3.c The learning curve will legnthen if too many good players (e.g. Oma) leave because noone can rival them.
3.d The learning curve doesn't seem that short, for me anyways.
4. Hello Oma, let us new people learn at your feet.
5. Hope you all agree, 'cause if you don't: TOUGH!

:D :D :D

bzbb info doesn't always correctly depict how long one has been playing... This site hasn't been around since the beginning of BZ, nor do people usually sign up when the first start playing.

I've been playing for about 2 years by now - only a little in the beginning under many different unregistered names, this name was made last Dec. as WIN XP pointed out

You have been "playing for about 2 years" and only just "found GU and Ducati"..?
Wow. Just... wow.

In my defense

In my defense I had seen GU before, but didn't like the word 'Germany', thinking it would be in German!
Ducati I had heard people tealking about but didn't like the idea of no-flags (Too skilled for me)

You guys don't get it....

The point of this topic, was to look for Oma. Back before you guys played, the bzflag community wasn't so large, practically everyone knew everybody. When Oma didn't show his mad green tank skillz some of us wondered where he went.

Fiberchunks

The Oldest BZ Name I remember

Hey SM,

Your list got me racking my brains for old timers, which being an old timer myself is difficult to do at times.

You forgot Kono!!! Although, I forget all the aliases he used toward the end there, so maybe one name on your list is his.

He's the dude who told me that:

"all the hours you play BZ you get back at the end of your life".

Damn, I sure hope he wasnt kidding! I also remember "Eric" although he changed names many times too. At that time we were playing on someone's private work server, I can't remember that player's name though?

I remember playing cell, and decks.

Folgore (cell, FFA)
I'm a loser baby (FFA)
Riseman (ducati)
M1 (ducati)
Noodleroni (turkey, ducati)

are the first that come to mind after reading that list. My mind is blanking on the vets from turkey, but I remember everyone from Cell.
