i had thought about that idea before... after seeing other games that have virtual worlds featuring changing times , seasons and weather conditions .
another idea would be for map makers to be able to select climate types and varying landscapes or backgrounds , such as deserts , artic , forests , ect.
before i ever started playing BZflag i used to play this other tank game ...
www.gamesocket.com
yes i know its a rather simple looking game :P but i still play it once in awhile because sometimes i feel like blowing someone upz without having to deal with any player drama ;) heh . keep in mind that this game is like 7 years old and hasn't changed much since then .
it does have some virtues , such as a choice of weapons(without the need to pick up superflags) , a damage counter , above-view playing , building textures(urban warfare) , a gridless battlefield , and a neat helicopter that comes around and drops supplies for you :)
i luv the sky in that game ....it gives off an imminent sense of doom befitting a wargame ;) sometimes it jus doesnt feel right to fight a war on a beautiful sunny day ;) heh
realize that some of these extra features would be difficult to implement for BZflag and would complicate things further .
also , for people who play with the low-res BZ settings(as many players do) most of these features such as fog , snow , rain , background , building textures , ect. would not show up anywayz .
but its nice to think about it :)
