Ive been a recent victim of the /useless mine sw command on some servers, i think its some sorta of patch but if this idea become implimented into bzflag for all servers. Imho Seer should be able to see mines maybe by drawling a red X or something on radar.
Also i think Seer is to weak of a flag. Rarely it is used unless there is a STealth player that needs to be hunted, otherwise its useless since IB and CL arnt strong enough flags that need to be hunted against.
Since the majority of players use radar, if you had seer display the tank throttle (to show the direction that all tanks are moving) on radar i think it would be used more often.
Showing the tanks direction would only be seen if players used seer. Seer itself wont be a powerflag but by adding new features it will make it more then a flag to hunt ST players with.
Here's a suggestion: Why not make SE project all your enemies into your hud as well as on your radar. A bit like the admin in observation mode. That would be a sure advantage.

Yes that is true but on the servers ive played where uselessmines are used people generally just stop crying and move on. No one likes dying and as long as there is only 1 or 2 useless flags on a map its not very often you are the victim. Anyway its fun to see tanks blown to bits when they least expect it
I agree the seer flag is weak on a server with powerful flags eg: misslewar as you are at a major disadvantage against gms, lazers but it is more a defending flag and wen used properly can suprise stealth flag users.
Mines with the current system do not cause unavoidable death. If you see where they were set, you can repeatedly drive just barely up to the trigger field and then back out again quickly. With just the right timing (and a little bit of lag), you can make a mine fire and then back out of the way in time to get clear of it. This allows you to "dislodge" the mine.
Plugins only affect the server. What you're talking about would have to be implemented as a client-side effect (except for by some pretty intense chicanery), and as stated above, the proximityMine plugin probably won't be supported inside the client.
Seeing that proximity mine knows the position of the mines, one probably could make it so the server sends the player a message when one gets x close to a mine, if they have the SE flag. But you couldn't see it on the radar. Anyways, mines stinks
