I thought of an easier way to implement something similar to my Sport mode concept by just adding a new flag, thus more likely to be seen sooner. I call it the Ball flag or BA. This idea is a compromise between the current styles of BZFlag and my Sport mode idea. Let me know what your thoughts are.

BA is for maps with a sport structure in CTF mode. Shots are like a reverse thief, where BA is passed to a tank that is hit by a BA shot, if a tank is hit by a BA while carrying another flag it automatically drops that flag and still receives the BA flag. A tank with BA can only shoot one shot at a time. Instead of looking like a thief beam, it could resemble a regular shot, but with a distinguished color. When a tank is on top of its own team base and is holding a BA flag, that tank's team's score is increased by one and the BA flag is reset, just like a capture.

A Thief can steal a BA only if the BA tank is fully loaded, that is there aren't any BA shots on the map from the corresponding BA tank. If a tank with BA makes a shot, and is killed before that shot expires, the BA flag doesn't respawn until that shot expires. It would have to be determined where the BA flag respawns in such a situation (i.e. at the location where the recently deceased BA carrier died, at the location where the BA bullet expired, or at the BA reset point).

To allow for something resembling a goal, a teleporter could be used. I would think that the tele would have to be appropriately designed so that tanks can't pass through, only bullets. The tele would lead to an inaccessible room that has a team base with a bot from that team, so that when a BA shot passes through that tele the team who has its base and bot behind that tele, scores. Obviously each team would have to have its own "goal room".

as I said in your other thread, 2 more changes and you can do this in 3.0 with no new flags, just a plug-in
