Fix the lag proublem

Post by stevr59 »

Hello I hope this is the right place to post this question is there any way the lag proublem can be fixed. i love bz flag but its to the point i cant play any more. every one is running broadband now and i live in the woods and my only choice is dialup and my lag is so bad now i cant play any more. Most of the servers are setting there lag setting to low for me to play and the few who have it set high anought for me to play i cant play any ways if more than 5 pepole join i cant hardy move or shoot . i use to play tranrus and the lag was ok but every one could play with out much proublems. are they working on a fix for this or is this some thing that we all have to live with ? :(

i hear ya man....i use to do dialup..then dsl...now cable
there are a number of things you can do...

lower BZ graphics...turn off most computer programs....UDP on.
turn texturing off..turn off everything except blending
i think...if you turn that off you cant see thru a tele..
try to stay on servers with 6 or less players.......
go to servers that allow higher lag...yes there are 3-4
that do.. i dont remember which ones but their there...
shorten the distance as much as possible between your
computer and phone outlet "a shorter line"....

the graphics ownt be as cool but you can still play pertty good
i did..

costly to do:
more ram...fast computer...better video card
cable internet...better ISP

and even if you do buy better stuff...lag is still there
anyways....always has been always will be.. someone
will cry about your lag even if its 10ms difference
even after doing the above...

i dont think the can get it much better then it is
they might be able to tweak a dozen or so more ms
out of the program....

im not a programer so dont know for sure but i think
its maxed out for what everyone wants..

good luck

doing that will only affect your lag if your FPS are REALLY low. what frame rate are you geting. If your on a decent machine, then it's probably just the modem doing it. check your ping to your gateway, your lag can never be lower then that.
