The Voice Sound.

Ok this is about how i wanted to make this map: on every 15 minutes the floor would change to: -set _mirror purple , and the purple bullets of world wepon would be shotted up everywhere in the map, but that is NOT what i wanted to suggest, those things can already be done. the thing is voice meessage. on every 15 minutes for example when that reaction i sead happens, the server message would pop out saying: TOXIC LAIR! but not only to be seen, but hear as well in that creepy sound! and in next 5 minutes the sky color would change to black and it would start to rain: -set _skyColor black, -set _rainType rain and World weapon yellow lasers would come down the sky like a Thunder! and the server message would scream scary again: TASTE THE THUNDERSTORM! Soooooo my suggestin is that you can set the server message to hear it as well...if it is possible.
Please answer if something like that could be done.

Playing custom sounds is not supported, and won't be supported unless someone decides to add it.

I see ok thank you, but if you know, may you tell me why it is not supported?

I already did.

However, to elaborate a bit...

We did at one point have some support to play .wav files off a remote server. They would be pulled much like an image. However, this consistently crashed clients, and it was never fixed, so the functionality was removed/disabled.

It also must make it into the game, once someone writes it (if it is submitted as a patch). The sounds would most likely have to go through an approval process similar to our image approval process to avoid distributing copyrighted material, etc..

The entire sound system needs to be rewritten.

Why stop there? The economy is in ruins too. ;-)

BZFlag due to some higher-ups.

Hehe great blast, but may i ask one more thing, since you said that is not supported, by who in certain? The BZFlag or server makers? You said if someone changes that, changes what? The excess of sound file to BZFlag or The bzw settings for a map that will include the sound file? Is that in hands of BZFlag managers or BZFlag server/map makers? Does the BZFlag system allow the input and upgrade settings or it needs to be restarted if it does not still have them? (sorry for the long question hehe, hope you get it.)

The game itself doesnt support custom sounds at the moment and probably won't support it in the future either.
But yes, I can imagine some server owners being against distributing audio files.

I removed the API for 2 technical reasons, 1) it is unstable, 2) there is no generic support for audio downloads and caching that works on all OSs.

So it is me that is certain. At some point a real feature that properly supports audio may be implemented.
