Terrain

Post by I_Died_Once » Sun Dec 12, 2004 2:15 pm

Got this idea from Super Mario Bros. (cause of the ice worlds)

How about different terrains? Each terrain makes your tank handle just a bit differently.

Thick brush - makes tank slow down

Ice - like having the momentum flag

Mud - maybe a toned down Ice (as far as effect goes)

Oil slick

Moving platforms / elevators / escalators

Then, you could add a few different flags, like Snow Tires (tank handles regularly on snow) Brush Guard (tank handles regularly in thick brush)
...This has been a recording.

Check out the snow/ice server on the 1.11 Beta version - like your arena idea it's already been partially implemented. :) Though I think that the terrain derives its effects from global server variables rather than a particular map object, so it's not as versatile as you suggested.

the physics drivers can be attached
to individual mesh faces. they are
not based on BZDB vars. As well, you
can have different stength drivers in
the same map for the same type.
