That annoying laugh!

Post by AlexanderTheGreat » Thu Feb 10, 2005 11:41 am

this is a minor thing, but i do not like that laugh when you lose ctf.

it's like the program is trash talking us for losing!! hehe.

i would prefer an extraordinary massive explosion sound to the laughter.

the veterans are probably used to the laugh, but i find it extra annoying when being clobbered by another team and also having to listen to that laughter.

change your the file then. Its easy. I'm assuming you have windows now...

just go to where bzflag is installed (default location is C:\Program Files\BZFlag2.0.0\data\Flag_lost.wav)

Have any sound recording you want, explosion etc... and replace that file (Flag_lost.wav) The file names must be the same. And you might want to back up the original file.

Ask Gerbil, He created a whole sound theme for Bzflag based off of Star Wars.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!

Thanx Red Baron!

but....i use Mac. the only files i have seen are the bzflag application and the .bzf/config file accessible in terminal. i haven't seen any sound files.

do you know if i can change sounds on a Mac?

thanx in advance....so i don't waste "board width" with another thank u!

btw..i have seen Gerbil's web page and bzflag movies (i like the camping one best), but didn't know he did sound themes! i better check his page again.

Ok, I'm not a mac user. I've got a mac, I just need to set bzflag on it for a reference point. Ask learner or some other mac user as to where the files are located.

As for the star wars theme. Check out this link. Its Gerbil's orignal post and has a link to download it.

P.S. Yes Gerbil was/is blessed with a great sense of humor. his "oma herta" flash video is my favorite. :D

thanx netochka nezvanova for pointing out where the .wav's are!

and Scorch, without your explanation about ctrl clicking, i never would have found it!! at first, i was staring blankly at 2.0 and wondering where the Contents and Resources folders were.

so now to find or make a substitute wav!!

it's great to know how much i can learn here due to all the helpful people.
