Circular Bases

Post by Scorch »

I would like it if they were circullar bases in a soon to come version (I sure hope this doesn't have to be in 2.2.x :/ ). This would be useful for putting bases inside of "circular houses" which I am now making. is this possible now or will it come in 2.0.2 or 2.2.0?

Short workaround: Create a square base, then .001 on top of it place a larger square with a circular hole in the middle. That way the people would see the base through the hole, and _maxBumpHeight should get them from the base up .001 units and onto the square.

yes but what if the circle isn't big enough? (and what, not my case, if you dont want any arc around it?) I think someone should consider this.

I guess circular bases would be a good idea.

Hum... A better idea would be the base system being reworked a little, and "base <team>" added as a material's property.
Depends, of course, wether the flag capture code is embeded in the server or in the client...

that is an excellent idea but... meshes can screw up with there random direction faces wich im still trying to fix. so if you made a flat mesh... or forget it. but what about cones/pyramids/meshpyrs ; "illegal flag places", it'd have to know what those are.

EDIT: and if you spin the arc then you couldn't capture flags.
