Server Admin Idea

i have heard from some admins that run servers that they have had prblems with missuse of power by other admins. so if you dont want someone to be admin anymore you have to change the password and tell all the other admins the new one. i think that the should be a 'Super Admin' (who set up the server) and then he can create a new admin password for each new admin, so if that one admin goes bad then you can remove his password. i also thought tht you could have different levels of admin so that the 'Super Admin' decides how much power (how many commands) each admin of their server can use/have. i know my idea my sound a bit far-fetched but its just and idea.

Are you referencing a specific server, or is this something in general?

In another thread on this message board, community members were discussing the proposed ability to change the 'one password' model of current server admin to a priv-based admin model. This would require the server owner to assign privs based upon specific admins or priv groups.

I love that idea, as not all admin commands should be available to every admin. For example, may be a server owner wants to make sure that no admin does a /flag up command, only /flag reset. Or, may be a server owner doesn't want his/her admins changing the /lagwarn.

I think that's a great idea, but not sure if this is what you are getting at in your message?

This sounds similar to what I am working on. Each user on a server would have apecific access rights for each admin function. so you could give out "Ban only" access, or what ever you want.

Yes, I was talking about your idea, Patlabor. :) I forgot who mentioned it.
