Rabbit team?

Post by The Purple Panzer »

I've been playing rabbit hunt on one of LouMan's maps (islands), and
after a while it can become a little repetative (this isn't a function of
the map, mainly the large numbers of players who make the rabbit's life fairly short on average).

It might be a nice modification to allow players to join "the rabbit's team", that is to work on protecting the rabbit. If they were also white, they could also act in part as decoys. It would mean that this variant of the game would be a sort of cross between CTF (with 2 teams) and the current rabbit hunt. It could be a lot of fun, and might be especially nice on servers with lots of people.

but then if theres 5 protectors, and 3 hunters, thats bad. I think there should be a limit on the # of those, probably 2.good idea.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

rabbit hunt is a dynamic team changing thingy, everyone who isn't rabbit is soppost to "hunt" the ONE rabbit, and the rabbit changes once it dies, rabbit is not a team, it is a person randomly or unrandomly selected by the server.

Techinically, rabbitTeam is a team. It's in the source code. You could make a patch that assigns a certain number of people to the rabbit's team.

I always thought it would be cool to have a "team rabbit" play mode. Players join as standard teams, just like FFA or CTF. A rabbit is chosen, just like in rabbit hunt, but the teams stay intact- thus, if the rabbit is an enemy, you go after him, and if he is a teammate, you defend him. Team points are given for rabbit kills or for defending the rabbit for some set duration.
Optimism is just a milder alternative to denial.

Hum...
I think I have a better idea.
Just use more than one rabbit.
When a hunter kills a rabbit, he becomes a rabbit, the rabbit becomes a hunter.
So you can have, say 3 rabbits, 7 hunters, and the game would be great fun.

Kinda off topic

Post by optic delusion »

Yeah, rabbit was real popular when it first came out, but quickly subsided, as it can get boring if you are not the rabbit.
This would be a great way to revitalize an under-used mode, Especially on maps that are "compartmentalized", and different battles can be played out in different places.

Off Topic here---- but doesn't any player picking up a team flag instantly become a rabbit?
A way to revitalize CTF just might be...
You can specify more than one team flag. Just add a line like
+f R
in with the rest of your flags.
R =Red
G=Green
P =Purple
B =Blue
It won't feel right on smaller maps, but I always thought two team flags might work to convert gigantic maps currently used for rabbit, like spiralzone, to CTF.
The rub would be placing the bases right.
I think two team flags would work on Viper's the Two Castles.

When did The Purple Panzer sprout antennae? Is that some kind of radio tracking device? I thought I was the one from another Planet.
Take a look at my Defender game mode concept.

Thinking is not an automatic process. A man can choose to think or to let his mind stagnate, or he can choose actively to turn against his intelligence, to evade his knowledge, to subvert his reason. If he refuses to think, he courts disaster: he cannot with impunity reject his means of perceiving reality.

How about the last 3 players to kill a rabbit become the rabbit. Same thing for other versions: Top three scoring players are the rabbit, and the three players who have been the rabbit the least % of the time
