new view point ?

Post by Winny »

maybe a viewpont like following a person in observer mode ?

I think this would be cool to have different points of view in bzflag.

anyone else think the same?

if, this is implemented, have the servers able to turn off this option.

In the same vein, a look behind option (sort of like in racing games) would be neat, too.

Lots of code, though.

Stealth would lose a lot of power if you had a rear-mirror. I think this has already been discussed and won't be part of the game in near future (if ever).

Hey what would be cool would be a bad flag -

rearviewmirror (-RM)

you can only see out of the back of your tank, so you can't see where you are shooting or driving, appart from the radar.

Win XP

You can cycle viewpoints in observer mode by pressing F8. Press F6 and F7 to change the tank your following. F5 does something that I forgot.

I belive he means in game, not in observer. He would like modes LIKE the observer ones while playing as a player.

hmm i dont think i like it. Seems like bzflag is only meant to have one veiw. Plus i agree with Saturos, st would lose alot of power not being able to sneak up behind tanks :)

but, if you were only behind your tank like the exact same distance as in obs, you wouldnt see an ST tank behind you. and if you could, that tank should have shot you by now.

sounds like he's asking for a 3rd person shooter and not a FPS

shooters can be well done in thrid person. If they are done right. Often 3rd person gives a better "feel" for the world, compensating for the fact that you can't realy turn your head and look around ( like you can when you drive a real car arround ). Other times it's just an excuse to look at a well moddled female buttox :)

Yes it could deminish some of the existing flags, but it t could also add a lot. I'm not sure the curretn bzflag needs it. But a bzflag that had rotating turrets, aiming, and tank damage would probably need it.

yes! you fingered it! I must have been having a brain cramp, like what happens when you eat too much rice.

Also, in OBS mode, the F9, F10, and F11 buttons do cool zooming stuff.

Nah... no need for 3rd view, especially if you don't give them a targeting reticle.... you Just need a kick ass Radar :)

hehe Jeff is in a good mood today... :)

but anywho, seeing as BZFlag has no "well moddled female buttox" I vote against the 3rd person bzflag.
