speed auto kick percentage is now a server paramater

Post by JeffM » Wed May 21, 2003 4:00 pm

Since many people are updating to CVS, and there still has been some issues with the speed auto kick, I have made the percentage that is used for an auto kick be a command line option

use -speedtol <speed factor> to controll it
the default is still the same as it was before, but if you are having problems with it you can now increase it.

as an example -speedtol 2.5 would auto kick anyone who is going 2.5 times faster then the speed they are suposed to go.

It's relative to the max speed that the server thinks a player is allowed to go at. So, it's factor*25m/s for a plain tank and factor*37.5m/s for a flag with the highspeed flag (actually, the calculation is done on squared speed).

this didn't change anything other then leting a user set the value at run time. autokick has been in CVS for a while, Xmission has been running for a while as well.

So there is no disable setting, but you can effectively disable it by putting the value to a huge value?

yeah put in a huge number. I don't think the idea of server speed check is a bad idea, just presently the logic is a bit screwwy, so we need this setting.
