Sniper bullet

Sniper flag

Something to use to take out that guy sleeping on top of a building on the other side of the field.

It is not as powerfull as laser but good for sneeky shots.

It would travel at normal bullet speed and would have a longer reload time but would travel twice as far as a normal bullet. (server admin could set reload time and travel distance.)

just use laser. It's the same balance, snipe shot but long reload.

On top of a building, and normal shot speed...

Might I reccomend GM?

dont get into a laser that locks and puts out a sw when it hits and is invincible to tking ;)

well how exactly would the sniper work? in my opinion it should give vertical motion instead if moving. turning still works (obviously), but the bullet should be a laser.

i think it would be better if sniper would go instanyly fast, and twice as far as a normal bullet

Actually, I kind of like the idea of a sniper flag...

A laser is infinite, and it is a beam... meaning it serves as a "fence" for the shot's duration that will kill you if you drive through it.

A sniper bullet could be hyper fast, have a very long (but not infinite) range, and be a bullet, not a beam.

This creates a "balanced" weapon, that sacrifices the beam aspect of the laser.

Also, it could be single shot with a 2-3 second reload. (Can the number of concurrent shots in flight be altered flag-by-flag, or is it server-wide?)

i like balanced weapons that have specific capabilities, but have to be chosen wisely because of their inherent limitations. The sniper bullet would not be a general purpose thing... and perhaps could be placed in some maps in lieu of, not in addition to, lasers.

If you look in the thread about mining, Jeff says that Tim vetoed any thing were you suddenly just die. and If you cant see the bullet at all, you are sitting there, and then you are dead. no good.

you all know star wars right? well those gun thigies that the bad guys have, that shoot laser bullets and go fast, but are not a beam, why not make that for a laser flag. no rico(maybe) and short bursts of laser light.

How about the short laser thingies are a tad faster than a normal bullet but longer reload and rico.

I like the idea of a regular BZ bullet... a regular old bullet... Not sure why.

I was on a server the other day (And I don't know which darn server it was, but I loved it, and can't find my way back) that had a high-speed round, just like you get with the rapid-fire flag... BUT...

The max range was the full size of the map, one shot, no ricochet. If you've ever seen an M1 Abrahms firing live M829 APFSDS ammo, that server will give you flashbacks. in many ways, that map was the essence of tank battle.

I want to play a little more ducati... As I gain more experience, I plan on building up a server that is similar to that one I was in, but drops some of the flags that are not particularly tank-like. No wings, no stealth... one shot, hi velocity, no rico, teams only, no rogues. Maybe a geno flag but it's hell to get to.

Heh, once I was on a server that had: 1 shot (it took 100000000 seconds to reload) and it was so funny to play! There's also one that has no shots but only steamroller flags.

Yeh, some of the demo/guided tour maps are not for fighting, and so you have one shot with "almost forever" reload.

The room I was in the reload was only a second or two, but essentially it was as long as the travel time on a long raneg shot, so it was like having a single shot, bolt-action rifle... just like sniping, just like a real tank.

that might have been Instat-kill (IK)
its not up anymore, which is too bad

At the risk of getting a bit off topic... I found 'em, it was the tavern.rklubi.ee servers. There's 2x FFA and a CTF map on that server. I am planning on making a map that is similar to those but with out as many flags.
