Hi I'm new to this Forum and the name here is Don. Been playing BZ for quite a few years now. Loads of fun and great job keeping it going guys.
I'm not one of your Puter Wizards so i don't know all the tech stuff.

It would be nice to see a new flag introduced...My idea Dumb or clever is a flag that lets you lay X amount of invisible mines say 3? This could be useful.

:rip: Don.

Nothing invisible... per Tim R, if I remember correctly. You must be able to defend against it, and you can't if they are truly invisible. They could show up on radar and not on the field, or visa verse and then it would probably be permissible.

Just a small note:

Perhaps the faq could mention that all mines are unwanted in the game. This goes for invisible mines as well as visible mines. First time I read the faq I was a little confused about this point.

How about a flag that makes you invincible... This would be useful

Or how about a flag that makes everyone else explode... This would be useful

You get the picture? It would all "be useful" but where is the fun in it?

They are planned and approved, but they actually have to be implemented. It's basically a "thumbs-up green light approval."

So in other words, if you want them, code them up and submit them to the developers for inclusion (after all this is open source). But don't complain if they are never implemented. Coming up with the ideas is easy (as we can see from these forums) but actually giving up your free time to code AND test them doesn't happen very often. The developers who work on BZFlag don't get paid to do this, they do it out of the kindness of their hearts. If you want something more get it approved and code it up. They will appreciate it (maybe).

actually anyone can edit the "status" on those pages, so I'd not be so sure that they were realy approved.

if someone wants to implement one, it would be best to talk to the development staff, and verify that the design is solid and the feature is desired in the mainline code.

most of those flags that say "approved" are really dumb and don't add anything to the game.

I've gone and updated the flag list, removed dupes, and clarified the status of many of them.
