Any idea for new Flags?

Post by MrsSmith »

I was falling asleep when I thought about a masquerade-flag for CTF:
a flag tha when u take that it change on the tank, and seems for the other teams they're team.flag.. it would be not a real arm, but an illusory one..

Opinions and new ideas?! :o

actually, that might not be a TERRIBLE idea... I could see how a team might use it as a distraction.

Maybe it would be funnier when you schwitched to another random team permanently.

Immunity

Post by Hoplite »

I've always thought that a good flag would give you bullets that won't kill your teammates. Then you can fire with impunity in a crowd and not worry about TK's.

I've also dreamed of a "fat bullet" flag. Bullets the size of, say, beachballs— make it easier to hit the bad guys.

uhm those are all silly ideas :P. The one flag I have always wanted to see would be like the masquerade flag, but instead of changing the color on HUD, it would change the color of the tank on the radar. This would be a great flag seeing how the majority of good players use the radar almost 100 percent of the time. I know myself I almost never tear my eyes off the radar. This is just an idea to trick even the best of players. :twisted:

Ok. That's been suggested before. By me! It's in the "enhancements" section. Heres the link...http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=9199 It doesn't seem like people really like this idea, it would be too confusing.

A new form of the useless flag: One that gives you no points for your kills, therefore you're shots are useless.

ST/SR combo

Post by Gnuser »

This combo would be deadly, and invisible. No shots to give your position away, just the other tank disappearing from radar.

Call it the stealth roller.

We have invisible bullet via radar... what about a cloaked bullet flag?

That would be cool, but i say no. How would you like it on a map when you just blow up without even seeing what gotcha. Of course, you could look at your radar and dodge, but noobs or even some people wouldn't I say its a bad idea. :|

Well i get your idea that most people look at their radar, but just a easier way to kill noobs? I thought we were supposed to bring more people into this game, not scare them away :wink:

But shouldn't we all know to look at the radar for shots? Because last time I checked, you can get shot from behind.

Yes, we should, but even the best players do not, and thats the way they get killed :twisted:

here are SOME of my ideas for flags...not all are useful and some might even be in the bad flag category. =/

1.High jump flag...you can jump 5 feet higher than normal...would give you some advantages and disadvantages.

2.Slow jump flag... you can jump the same height...but it takes you longer to go up and down respectively.

3.Shoot a flag at someone else using Give away flag...opposite of thief...you get a "give away flag" and then you pick up another flag and you give that flag to somebody...might be useful on a server with bad flags but you might actually give them a super flag. thats the risk

All are good, except the third one. I'm not sure if it's even possible to do that. I asked this on another thread...http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=9257 anyway, good idea(s)!

Thank you...any ideas for improving them? or elaborating them...(same thing) =)

also i came up with 2 new ones

4.Teleport flag...When fired you will be transported anywhere on the map completely randomly... like the wings flags you only get a certain # of teleporters or "shots" this could be very useful and i like the idea.

5.shrapnel Flag...fires 8 shots around your tank...you only get a certain number of shots and each bullet counts as a shot

say your tank was in the middle the tank is represented as the "8" and the bullets are the asterisks (*)

* * *
* 8 *
* * *

please post your comments on my latest ideas

I like the shrapnel flag idea, but that probably complicates things too much though. It's not entirely too powerful, seeing as how a distributed shot would make it more likely to TK, as well, so you have to be careful.

What if we simply create a reverse shot flag for those pesky people who like to chase you with SW or steamroller. This is a great idea assuming its possible and could be added to new maneuvers.
