am I doing this right?

Post by 1veedo »

I'm trying to run a server, just in my network. (I would run it public but my dad wont even let my run a website...and I dont know the pass for my router).

Code: Select all

[azevedo@localhost ~]$ bzfs -world /home/azevedo/map/first.map
/home/azevedo/map/first.map: warning: world file extension is not .bzw, trying to load anyway
When I try to connect w/ bzflag (on XP computer) it says "Error connecting to server". I know the IP address is correct. This map was made on the windows version of bzedit. And I know some people here have made maps with the .map extention.

I'm probably missing something really big, but what is it?

try putting -d -d -d -d into your command line or whatever your using.
I had to do that. Seems to make it work.

You can load a map of any extention, it just has to be of the correct syntax. That little "not .bzw" thing is just the computer complaining. It doesn't have to be .bzw.

thnks.

I can get it to work.

Just one more ploblem and a question.

A) How do I log in as admin
B) For some reason it stops working after I close the consol running bzbb. If I restart my linux box, then run bzfs again, the server is back up and working.

ok, disreguard B.

The port changes in 'join gaim' after connecting to certain servers. I just have to specify what port I see in the output to get it working again.

I still want to be able to change like rain and stuff. Which requires being an admin I assume.

edit:
Ok, I'm stupid.

Got everything working. Thanks.

Add in the bzfs commandline the option "-password mypass", then connect, and type "/password mypass". You should see "You are now an administrator". Type "/set someoption somevalue", and "/set" alone to see the possible variables. For weather, there's a whole section prefixed with "_rain". "/set _ranType snow" for example.
