how do i set the server to shut down after a set period of time.

at the moment i have

Code: Select all

-time 30
-g
to test, but when it counts down from 00:30 to 00:00, like it should - but it dosn't shutdown the server. it just stays at 0:00. is there another command for shutting down after the game? i thought it was -g?

Code: Select all

-time 30
is just a time limit for the game. After the countdown is on 0, the game is over. Nobody will be able to spawn and play.

how do you shut down the server after a game has expired then?

i'm sure there is a way to do it... for example silvercat?
or am i going to just have to make a program which logs in to bzadmin and shuts down manually?

It could be necessary to write a simple skript, which shuts down the server after the game is over.
I think you should ask silverfox directly.

this worked for me: no script needed.

-g

time 2000

try adding the -g over the time....just a thought.... becuase that is right out of my rotation conf (s).

hmmm..... could be that i suppose. I don't haave the -time in my conf, it is added in the command line, so i'll add it to all the confs.

i have written an applescript rotation script you see....

I'd appreciate a look at that applescript. Do you plan on releasing it?

well, it's got to work first :P

and it's very 'filepath intensive' you'll have to get the folders right, but otherwise that's fine. If i get it working i'll post it.

order of the options, or the if it's in config or command line should not matter. It's all merged by bzfs in the end.

hmmmk...

it's still not working. I'm wondering is this the right behavior for the -g -time thing. Is it ment to shutdown the server after the time limit, or simply wait untill everyone leaves the server?

can someone please enlighten me as to what i'm doing wrong :) ?

Where are you running this? There are some platforms where it does exactly what you said. Silvercat is running on bzflag.bz right now and without a patch, the game won't end.

Same config files as our normal host, but on bzflag.bz it doesn't work.
