Silvercat down?

I haven't seen silvercat in the server list for ages. Anyone know if its coming back up sometime soonish (Silverfox ?)

Hardware problems, as best we can tell. It will come back up, but there is no ETA right now.

I just threw that Overloard + Grassroots + Pillbox map up on my server. It's not Silvercat, but it might be good enough for you guys to get your fix until silvercat comes back.

If you're talking about viper2 I have a 500ms ping to them for some reason and it's impossible to play

They're not talking about viper2, they talk about silvercat.

But i think the viper2 server is in europe, my lag is really small.

just look for other servers, for example, badgerkings is great, and popular too.

If the silvercat website was at the same domain as the server, I can explain why. The domain expired sometime in the last few days.
Silverfox, btw, seems to have vanished. :/

Silverfox expressed a lack of enthusiasm for 'rebuilding' the server *again* some time ago.
People constantly PM'ing him isn't going to help. He may even be on holiday or something like that, so let a representative from the server say siomething when there is something to say.

The server is back up and running at a temporary location. The domain expiration is somewhat irrelevant because we're migrating away from the domain where it was anyway and to silvercat.bzflag.org, but the migration wasn't complete, so it was just a CNAME.

Silverfox is alive and well and QUITE busy with other things, so please don't bug him. If you have questions or comments just post here or come to #silvercat at irc.freenode.net

Enjoy the server, and we'll get it back up and running at the normal location with all the normal bells and whistles ASAP.

The only things I know missing right now are the nagware plugin and the website, of course.

Along with the new server is a new website. It includes a monthly ongoing scoreboard, stats, forums, screenshot section, etc. Make sure to stop by and check it out.

(maybe the server message should say "Walkways submitted by Janis :: map by DW)" ?

sorry if im making to big of a deal of this but I don't like it when someone submits a map as there own.

I agree. Its not that {janis} just submitted it, but when I got the map, janis had put an -admsg in it saying the map was by him/her, and in private messages led me to believe that s/he created the map.

Ironically, the exact same thing has happened again. My Registrar is MIA for the last month, and would not take my money for a domain name renewal.

Silvercat will be back up as soon as Tim Riker responds to my request to change the silvercat.bzflag.org CNAME to silvercat.teton.com

In the mean time, you can still reach the website here:

http://silvercat.teton.com/

If one of the other owners wants to put in the time, the servers could be reconfigured to use this FQDN instead of the broken silvercat.bzflag.org
