Error with conf file

Post by The Guardian »

Hi, all!

I've finally decided to try out hosting a public server for a day (or more, if it's succesfull...). Anyway, as you guessed, if didn't work. Here's the contents of my conf file:

-world "The Cross Fire.bzw"

-passwd password

-public "The Guardian's The Cross Fire"

-publicaddr theguardian.game-host.org:5154

It didn't give any error, but it didn't show up on the list of servers. Can somebody please help me resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

-passwd
That's the first thing to change. It's:

-password yourpassword

And did you check to make sure that your firewall, router, etc. isn't blocking your server from getting through? You might have to open a port depending on your internet setup.

Another thing is your game-host thing wasn't updated. I know with no-ip.com it takes about four-five minutes for things to process, therefore if you just created it, and it hadn't processed, it might not be up. Just an idea. :|

Also, if global logins don't work when you do get it up, I use this:

-publiclist http://db.bzflag.org/db/

Also, is your map in the same directory as the bzfs things and conf and all? You might need a path to it.

That's about all I can think of as to not getting through.

Ok. I'll check my firewall and my "-passwd" thing.
