cant shoot when driving forward and left

Post by jnd » Sun Apr 22, 2007 2:52 am

I use space bar for shooting and I have problem that I cant shoot when driving forward-left. If I drive forward-right its ok and if I use enter for shooting its ok too. I tried some other key, *, and this also doesnt work. I dont if its some system problem, now tried in text editor and spacebar doesnt work when I press forward-left...

When I use windows client it works without any problems.

This may be a hardware limitation (most likely), or may be an operating system issue. I've had this problem on several of the PCs I've used BZFlag on. What are your computer specifications? Model? Is this on Linux?

Oh, i can reproduce this. Even "xev" (a tool to track keyboard/mouse events within X) does not generate a key event when pressing forward, left and space. I guess this is a general X keyboard driver issue.

So I will move to X forum/chat and ask here.

I have an update on this issue.

Maybe it's hardware (keyboard) related. It looks like, some manufacturer save money in reducing components inside the keyboard. When i connect a different keyboard (from a other vendor) to my machine it works perfectly without changing any configuration.

Many keyboards have this problem. Not really anything you can do about it other than get a different keyboard.

Thanks for that info. I remember that the windows one was better keyboard and the other on linux was some cheap. At home I have a bit older classic Chicony (year about 2000). I chose it for very good typing but it seems its not good for some games :)

I will test one pc with other keyboards and see if it makes difference.
