Activating hunt sometimes makes me keep going backwards

I play with nothing but the keyboard. At seemingly random times, when I start hunting someone (press U, select with up/down arrows, press enter) my tank immediately starts moving backwards- without me touching any of the controls. When that happens, the client does not respond to the up or down arrow keys. I just keep going backwards until I back into a wall, etc. The glitch isn't stopped by backing into a wall; if I turn using the left or right arrow keys, I resume going backwards but in a different direction. The bug goes away after a brief period, but I haven't timed it. This bug does NOT occur every timeI use hunt. It seems random and somewhat rare, but very annoying.

Let me know if further detail is required. I'd like to troubleshoot this and/or get enough info together to file my first formal BZFlag bug report on Sourceforge.

I saw the bug again today on Missile War 2.3 2 team CTF by Ducatiwannabe.

Are you sure youre not just twisting your fingers and hitting wrong buttons unconciously?

No, it does it with my hands off the keyboard and trackpad entirely.

maybe the game switches to mouse whenever the player uses the keyboard controls for other tasks?

Nope, it doesn't. It's probably just not seeing the "key up" event for the down arrow, or it's being processed by some other code section (such as within the hunt selection code).

EDIT: Definitely seems to happen when you activate the hunt selection while moving backwards.
