BZFlag 2.4.8 became unusable on El Capitan (Solved)

Post by FiringSquad »

BZFlag keeps "oscillating" when launching so that the screen never displays.
It seems to be constantly trying to display the main screen, failing, and trying again so that if I move my mouse it keeps resetting in the centre of the screen.
Screen does go black, but main screen never appears and occasionally during the "flicker" I can see windows from the Finder.
Had worked up until yesterday. Not aware of any OS updates.

Tried running from the command-line and gor the following message:
Terminal output wrote:2017-01-25 17:58:17.706 BZFlag[29578:57312178] 17:58:17.706 WARNING: 140: This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to the API's in AudioComponent.h.

Tried deleting Application Support/BZFlag folder but it didn't help.

Do you have the retina screen resolution on a "scaled" setting?

Interesting. It was scaled (but always was), so I set it to "Default for Display" and it worked.
Set it back to "Scaled" and it's still working.

Either way, back in action, so thanks Consti.

See you on the battlefield.
