Error unpacking world database

I am using debian/SID and updated to bzflag 2.0.2.20050318-0.1 (both client and server). When I start a plain server via "bzfs" without any options and try to connect I receive the error "Error unpacking world database". Can I do something against this?

I also have tried to connect to an older version of bzfs. This works, but the game is unplayable (cannot shoot a tank and the tanks are moving very lag-like unsmoothly, jumpingly).

I get the same problem using the current cvs HEAD.

Unfortunately, I have the exact same problem too.. Running bzfs on debian, upgraded via apt-get upgrade, and all clients fail to connect with the same message. Everyone here at my company is really frustrated and they blame me (the bad sysadmin) for ruining their game :oops:
