MI6 mapmaking contest

Yes, it is a contest. Because I feel a little lazy right now, and haven't made maps in a long time, I have decided to hold a contest for MI6 maps.

What does this mean, you say? MI6 is a group/league I and Nightfire have started, and we need maps to call our own. The winners will most likely get admin privileges, but will definitely be at least cop, depending on how much I think I can trust you.

We are looking for up to 4 different maps: one "indoors", like a HQ, and three more outdoors.

The requirements:
•The HQ map needs to feel as though it is in a building.
•Try for original textures. The more original, the better. (256 x 256, remember?)
•Try to keep the height of the maps small. We don't want to climb too high.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
Contact me for hosting options.

So, from what I understand, you want "secret agent" kind of maps? One inside. Textured. And if we do good enough we possibly get admin/cop privs? So it's not really a contest, more of a request?

I guess you could say its both. If only a few people submit maps, it wont be much of a contest.
But if three people submit an indoor map, then the best one of those will 'win'.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by secret agent kinda map, but I think whatever you mean by it is what I meant.
That help?

When you say that the winners will get admin/cop privlages it makes the whole thing seem a lot less credible.

Well, I can't claim I know exactly what you mean by that, but I'm sure those who have created the maps may want some reward for their efforts. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other reward.

The reward isn't becoming admin/cop. The reward is having their map hosted, that's satisfying for most map makers.

I might, after some texture schooling ;p be able to create a kind of outdoor "stealth mission" using rouges, short radar, and lots of black. St would be a good flag, also. I want to finish my obstacle map first, then I could start this. I'm still a n00b at map making, I use bzedit until I have the level set up, then go to text for WW's, zones, etc.

Thats alright, I used to make maps that way. I may return to making them all by text, actually.

I like your idea, it sounds fun. If you want help with textures, I can work on them. Thats my favorite part, actually.

Seriously people. We need some maps. We can make our own, but that will take a long time. We may have to just go with random maps for a while.

Okay, I'll try to whip something up. I have no idea how long it will take, however.

Also, it's only been 8 days since the start of the contest, maybe people are still working on their submissions.

That may be true, but I would have expected them to post some sort of notice that they were working on them.

Ok, I figured out how to make textures. I'm going to begin after finishing Claustrophobia (Heck, maybe I can just fill it with black textures and call that an HQ map.)

Because I can't claim to know what claustrophobia is, as a map, I don't really follow you. It sounds like you are thinking about adding textures to a map you have started and call it your submission?

Claustrophobia is a map Boinkage made, and I beleive you are correct about adding textures to an existing map.

Okay! My submission is in. I hope I'm not too late.

Here is the map's thread.

I might be able to add secret passages and stuff every now and then, to vary the gameplay a bit and to have new things for players to discover.

No, your not too late. now I'll have to make time to go through it a little.

Good job on the thread, it seems like you have put a good amount of effort into this.
