Hi all,

I believe I have gotten Mapatorium 2.0 to a high enough level of working to allow a open beta of the system. So hop right over to Mapatorium 2.0, try it out, and tell me what you think (bugs or missing features would be cool too).

Cheers

What is the mapatorium?

Shouldn't this be in fansites?
Anyway, the layout looks cool, so dose the background, and the map submitter. Great work :)

It seems like a great resource for the community, than merely a "fansite". Besides, tanner was announcing it. ;)

Tanner, as always, you're the man. Great job dude.

Hm...starting something to replace something else that actually works is never easy...and the current version of Mapatorium 2.0 offers indeed less features than RPG's mapatorium (http://www.garrettsites.net/bzmaps/).
This isn't a surprise because it is just a beta, but would you please tell us in which way it will be different/better than RPG's site? (I know about the global login and that the Mapatorium 2.0 will be made by/for the MDG.)

RPG's mapatorium is going to die soon. It will disappear. Try his full site...

This one will continue to be worked on.

There's no comment about the old mapatorium. As far as I understand the message, RPG will rewrite the main site only...but I'm not sure...
You'll surely have more reliable information.

Thanks for your answer.

RPG said months ago that he was no longer maintaining the mapatorium. it's been more or less left to rot.

Anyway, does this new mapatorium allow users to submit maps on someone else's behalf? Not being able to credit someone else for a map submission was a major shortcoming of the original mapatorium, and would be a really nice feature to have.

I was thinking about that as I downloaded the data file from the old mapatorium. I think I should be able to implement that.

I tried to put in my basic map (no textures) and it replied with an error.

I tried to upload a map, and I got the following:
There was an error uploading the file, please try again (or something has gone horridly wrong)!
I did try again, but it didn't work.

EDIT: It was my Ant Farm map.

EDIT#2 so I don't look like a jerk: I posted this just before you posted, Winny, and since the ink wasn't even dry yet I didn't want to make another post so soon ;)

Well, post the error.

We aren't physic, you need to tell us the error, and show us the map file.

EDIT: So I don't look like a moron.

Notice the post above mine:

Now, notice the post time on mine:

When looking at a map's 'rating', you might want to round the number to the nearest whole; it doesn't seem necessary to know that person A's map has a 1.1945743 better rating than person B.
