Arena Tank Bowl

Post by bamf. »

Hola Amigos,

I made this 3 team ctf map about a year ago for 1.7 and it worked and looked fine. Now, with latest version, it buggers up the base sizes and elevates the blue base, or it removes the bases completely.

It's not fancy, it's supposed to be ducati-like ctf play (2 shot's, no jump, rico) with an extra team thrown in to make it interesting.

I did not use any bz editors to make it, just a text editor. It's a 3 team ctf map in a square world which is why i placed alot of "fill" around it to make it appear as a triangular shape. My calculations on base placement were, for the most part, good guesses, this may be why it's a bit wacky in the new version. The bases are supposed to be partially underneath the buildings, so the whole angle is covered in the base. Each base is supposed to be the same distance from the other to keep it even.

Any of you map maker geeks want to take a crack at it?

Muchos gracias!

It's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says: Hey, can you give me a hand? You can say: Sorry, got these sacks.

No I haven't adjusted it.
Yes, Bzg is hosting it on port 6000, but when I join it (using 1.10.4). The blue base is elevated a bit. Perhaps it's related to OS or my video card. Join it and check out the blue base.

You're right, it's fine on your server.
Try bzgirl.bzflag.org:6000
It's a bit messed up there.

i went to both.

what was interesting is that the bases are different shapes/sizes.

i downloaded the map from bzgirl's site, and it is different from the one you posted here and the blue base has a height of 1.

if you are using bzedit to edit these files, remember that bzedit has trouble with blue/green bases and changes the color between the two every time you hit apply.

I used a text editor, the one I posted here is the original. Perhaps she opened up with a world editor. Thanks for the help.

Cheers!

I had edited it in bzedit, and i guess I messed it up, the original
bases extended into the buildings, so when I spawned some
times the server spawned me inside a building.

Thats why I made tthe bases smaller. Anyhow, it seems to be fixed now, thanks.
