Wow, I've gotten behind.
ducatiwannabe wrote:Hey, quick question, is there a way to make it so my maps dont have a 20 shot limit on wings, cause there isnt really a point to wings with 25 jumps on a big map with only 20 shots
Yeah, I accidentally left that in the config. All of your config options should be in the options block. If something in the config is overriding your option, let me know and I'll remove it.

ducatiwannabe, did you want your rod map to have bases? Looks like you're missing the CTF options in your option block.

Biya, I added your Mountains map (which I really like BTW!), but the radar is enabled. Was this by design?

I think everything is up to date on the rotation server. We have so many good entries. I can't wait until the exhibition and vote phases!

Yes I did want it to have bases? Please tell me it does? Ok if it doesn't do I have to send you another file, or could you pop in make it ctf riccochet and 4 shots for me?

im working on the final release of my HideNSeek map to enter into the contest. I know you said the later you enter the less of the chance you could win cause it hasnt been in rotation as long as the others. Well I have some questions; 1. Can the designated server be my server? 2. Do I have to put "Vote for this map in www.hepcat.org" as a srvmsg? 3. When are we gonna start the voting?

ducatiwannabe, each time your map starts on the rotation server, the server automatically downloads http://rangfar.com/hosted/bzflagworld/R ... uction.bzw

If you change the file there, it will be updated the next time the server loads (do a /shutdownserver to force it down)

BIYA, 1) yes; 2) probably a good idea; 3) at http://hepcat.bzflag.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=248 you can see it says:
1) Submission. Submit your map (you may submit the map to me privately if you prefer) and screenshot here for users to see. All maps that are to participate must be recieved by July 1st, 2005 PST. Any submissions recieved after this date will not be considered. Early submitters will get their map exhibited for a longer period.

2) Exhibition. Although maps may be put on the server prior to July 1st, 2005 for general viewing, all maps will recieve equal viewing time AFTER July 1st. Maps will be on a rotation, and will continue to be for 1 month so users can try each submission.

3) Judgement. An server message will tell players to come here to vote for their favorite map. Registered users of this forum will vote on their favorite map.
Submissions are due by July 1st. The month of July I will display each map on a hepcat server for an equal length of time. August 1st we'll begin the voting. I didn't think to specify how long to allow the poll. My initial thought was 1 month. Any objections?

RPG, you have lots of time!

Have you tried again? Try clearing your cache. Maybe you have something gummed up in there.

Here it is HideNSeek. Don't know if I should put it as Rabbit mode but I sha'll not put the players the strain of searching with no radar and the rabbit might have a CL flag :(.. But, ill test it in DTR's server an see how it goes.

Also if im correct I only have entered 2 maps including the one above? Heres another map. GUModded.

Post by SilverFox »

The results are in!
Combining the poll at http://hepcat.bzflag.org/forums/posting ... eply&t=248 with this one, the results are:

Where should the hepcat map contest be judged (via a forum poll) ?

http://my.bzflag.org/bb/
40% [ 8 ]
http://hepcat.bzflag.org/forums/
40% [ 8 ]
Tally votes from both sites, its ok if people vote twice.
20% [ 4 ]

Tied.

So, I will make an executive decision, and the poll will be held at http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?p=41130

My first map doesnt really have a name... the file is called cbgmap.bzw.

to large to be practical

Post by jomojo »

I have to say, most of these maps are too large and too complicated for many machines and connections. I have an average speed machine, and above average graphics card and connection. I am fine on almost all servers with excellent fps. But many of these new maps are just too big except for the fastest of machines. Thus making them not practical for use by most. i mean on some of these i have less than 15 fps. Which is just no good. The key to the most succesful maps out there is that they are not too big, and lack complications. I know many of the maps such as overlord, gu.de and bable are quite simplistic in design, but very effective. However, maps like vipers are fairly complicated yet not so much so that it negetively effects most machines.
