version 6.3 is ready

it works pertty good for a cheesy text input program...

MANY THANKS...to
BIYA, WIN-XP and HANNIBAL for objects they made
i also placed you in the credits for the program

TESTING FEEDBACK
BIYA, ME1

things bzrand can do:

1. make varied shape normal boxes and pyrs
2. insert 8 new shapes(combinations of boxes and pyrs)
3. place 2-12 teles and randomly link them
4. add CTF bases to map for 4 players

5. has a better menu/input screen now
which allows you to pick what you want on your map

6. allows worlds from 400-800 in size
7. makes world weapons
8. can have drive/shoot thru objects
9. object importer(very buggy and limited read help file)
10. has a help command for # of object limits

BUGS:
it has a couple but sinces it's compat. with BZEDIT
fixing is very FAST and EASY...

always read the help file it will go better for you
if you do.

GOTO link in the first post of this thread to get it...

and world weapons
plus more varied box and pyr shapes...

Maybe as an option?

Louman has some awesome 2.0.x trees, and I've seen some neat tunnels.
i doubt it .. like RPG said...too much coding for
my simple brain....plus i am making this 100%
compatible with BZedit..and BZedit can't show
those new obejcts so you'd never be able to
see the map in BZedit and work on it..
But world weapons are 2.0.4 'server' objects... many simple 2.0.x objects are just as simple as a pyramid. But then again, I can't find any use for 2.0.x objects in BZRand yet... it is probably better the way it is right now. :D

Suppose I shouldn't blab on about it too much, as I haven't even tried it yet. I'll do that now...

cool let me know how your try goes... :)

technically no...weapons were intro'd in 1.x not 2.x
but what he wants is for me to hard code some
2.0 objects into bzrand....way to hard(lazy?) for me
right now as 1 object can have dozens of lines that i would
have to hand type into the program...arf....!!!

IE...

i'm trying to keep it simple as in:

name
position
rotation
size
end....

whereas 2.0 objects add soooooo many more things/lines
then that...plus again not viewable in bzedit 1.6x..which i want it to be...

your right on 1 level bzedit is not compat. with weapons deletes
them everytime...i made a quick fix for this but its annoying...

I don't see a file attachment, either.

If you want, I'll convert this into a full Win32 app.

okay be more specific:

more boxes as in limits? you can have from 40-250 depending on world
size...use the help command on the main menu of bzrand for info on that

max height as in how tall the boxes are? or how high the Z is?

right now all "normal" boxes have a Z of zero(fixed)
and a max hieght of 25...

elevated platforms start at a Z of 20....

I know qbasic. But I don't see where it would help in this instance. Perhaps you ment V-basic?

Qbasic is an Old Dos language. very week, slightly buggy, and runs in 16bit.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!

i meant the Z scale height a limit on that so that it produces a random number beteen 0 and what you specified (it shold be 0 by default)

so you want me to allow the user to set the max hieght?
instead of the 0(on the floor) for a normal box? that would effect
ALL boxes not just one or two...

if so i'll have to think about that...maybe i should allow
the user to control the elevated platform hieghts instead?
as there are far fewer of those then the normal boxes..

version 6.35 is ready

minor change only...

hopefully moves most objects
back inside your world size limit
a few units or so...so game
play is not affected...

sid6.7 would you mind if I asked for the source code?

I didn't even know you wrote it in qbasic. I downloaded the program, pretty nifty. I never would have thought that qbasic could be used for anything bz-related. But I see where I'm wrong. bzw uses ASCII text, as does qbasic.

minor release 6.36

done:
you can now name your map (8 letters MAX)
so you no longer overwrite the old ones you've
made...

you can now make a single object type map of
either blocks or pyrs for wings type maps
was the idea i believe...you can input ANY size and
ANY max or min elevation, if you want it on
the floor enter 0 0...

if the maps less then 450 in size you can get up to 50
if > 450 you can have up to 250 objects....

this will be the ONLY non-random user input i
will be adding to bzrand....

todo:
text writer
better object importer
better tele collison detector

this thread..
