text in game question

I was playing on a map recently (don't recall which) and the teleporters
had text (made of blocks or character-by-character meshes) which said where they go to - I thought it was a nice idea. Quite some time ago I vaguely recall a tool that would generate a set of blocks that would spell out a word - perhaps the same tool was used.

I suppose I can do it by hand, but does anyone know how it was done recently, and if there is such a tool around?

That would be Tadd's GM world, by the way.

Person1 made a tool, but its password protected for some reason.

using many of the model exporters you can make a mesh that looks like text, and add it to any map.

It's much cheaper on the polygon count to create your text in an image and texture map it to a simple mesh. I've used this method with success in my past few maps.

I've tried to use actual mesh objects to create text and it always ends up using way too many polygons.
