BZFlag campaign mode idea...

Post by Gamma »

Sup everyone...

I just had an idea to make a campaign mode for BZFlag... Before you start ranting and saying I'm stupid let me explain

I'm currently working with a free 3d game engine called "3DRad" : http://www.3drad.com
It has a really great interference and tons of different options, the ability to import your own skinmesh's, landscapes, sprites ect...
My idea just for v1 (seeing how ppl like it) is to have several different "popular" maps from bzflag (exported as a .obj of course & given textures) with different missions to accomplish: checkpoints, destroying enemy's and so on.

I'm going to give the option of a 3rd person view of the tank & a first person view

If you think this is a good idea and I should start working on it just let me know! :D

Yeah, thats for sure, But it would still be a little cool...

I was wondering if there are any 3d renderings of tanks (in any file format)?

There is a link to an obj of a tank on the wiki somewhere.

In some strange SVN sub directory (bzflag/trunk/pybzflag/extra_media) I found two blender model files that should contain what you were looking for. If you can't handle *.blend files you should open these files with blender and export them as object files.

Access via HTTP:
http://bzflag.svn.sourceforge.net/viewv ... tank.blend
http://bzflag.svn.sourceforge.net/viewv ... tank.blend

Okayyyy, just to let anyone that was interested in this, I wont be working on it at all for the time being... Mainly because I don't have time + it deals with stuff "out of my range" at the moment
I would have to use a lot of scripting of a completely unknown proggy lang, plus, I'm still in school & kinda busy
heh, it was a nice thought though :D
