I've messed with Yafray for wings and it only takes a long time to render when you make it in a bigger reslution than it normally was 100X100 which is really small.

Well, the scenes that I used to render to file were around 800x600 to 1024x768 in size.

He must be talking about the Windows port. :? You're not gonna get spyware by downloading Windows Media Player on your mac.

Tank Animation Rev 1

Post by LouMan »

I have made some revisions to the animation and posted it to the website below. I have changed the format to .swf (Shockwave) and you will need Shockwave Version 7 or greater to view it. Also, it is best not to view it directly in web browser, but to download and view independently with Shockwave player. I 'borrowed' some music from Filter ("Hey Man Nice Shot') - I hope it doesn't offend

Remember, the sample is low resolution - will look much better when I make final render.

(removed, sorry)

Nice, LouMan, but you need to give more time to read the stuff at the end. ;)

This true; I will have to figure out a way to cut some text from the last screen to make it easier to read in the 8 seconds that it is up. Thanks for the feedback. :)

I'm finding that this is one of those rather useless projects that has been taking up too much of my time  Not sure why I am even doing it, other than to play with my animation software; 'hmmm, let's see if I can make a smoke cloud from the barrel...' 'hmmm, maybe I can mix in some tank tread sound fx with a little corner squeal...' and on and on...

I reduced the amount of text on the final splash screen for revision 3 of the tank animation (updated on website shown above); hopefully it will now be easier to read in the time allowed. Any other suggestions for improvement are welcome.

If you are on a mac don't even bother betting windows media player. Use VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ . It plays every format imaginable and its open source.

Ok, updated the video for probably the last time. I rendered it at 640x480 (took 5 hours!) and converted to .swf file. As before, the video can be downloaded from:

(removed, sorry)

Warning: it is now about 9 Mb.

louman, how about the tank shooting tanks also, instead of just shooting a wall and the viewer.
