i dont have any screenies but it was very simple
the bigbar at the bottom that tells you whats going on is still there and then on top of that would be a nother bar for you to write a message and to the right of that would be couloured boxes showing team numbers and the radar would be in the same place
i dont know how old that client was Linux

1.10 is a rather recent version.

As told by http://www.bzflag.org/wiki/ProjectHistory
bzflag started on SGI machines, didn't go open source till around 1.7c2.
Chris was atempting to get it done as a comercial release before he decided to go open source.

The oldest version I have is somewhere around 1.7b0, it was the first windows port.

there are archives of the old web pages as well
specificly you will want to look at the screenshots

you asked for bz, not bzflag ;)

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7059
Description
Using wire models on a vector display with a green and red overlay, a battle with opposing tanks, missiles and the occasional saucer is simulated among pyramids and cubes. The 1812 overture plays during high score.
well the tanks, pyramids and cubes are still around, bring back the saucer! :D

I seem to remember the buildings being pink, pyramids just solid blue, and the tele borders just plain yellow...

except for you have no gui options.

Nothing's really configurable.
